Week 15 - Open House

Well, week 15 is tomorrow and so here is the run down. The presentation is for your child to bring in a picture they draw and tell the class about it/describe it. For Latin, we are trying to learn the Latin of John 1:1-7 and so, listening to a song to the tune of the American Anthem. You can find and download this song through CC Connected to help your child, if you wish. For English, we are still reviewing the Irregular Verbs. There is a cupcake game you can play with your child to help them with this. If you would like the game, please email me and I will send it to you. For Geography, we are learning the Great Lakes, Niagara Falls will be included, but you want to make sure that your child understands that it is not part of the Great Lakes.

Tomorrow is Open House at our campus. Some classes will have extra students and parents. If your class is full of parents, and you wouldn't mind, please check out another classroom that isn't as full. You can sit in on the class your child will be in next year if you like. Sitting in on another class may also give you some good ideas that I do not use to help your child to memorize facts.

If you have any questions, please email me @ psychmajor1@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Simone Gremillion

Week 14

This year is going by so fast! I am excited to be back and hope all the children are as well.

For week 14, our presentation this week is to tell a story about a missionary or a Bible character. They can use a Bible picture book while telling the story in their own words or can act it out using props.

This six weeks we are going over some Famous Artists. There is a website that has some printables from famous artists, it does not have all the ones we are talking about, but if you want to talk some more with your child about art, this is a great website practicalpages.wordpress.com .

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me, psychmajor1@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
Simone Gremillion

Week 8

I can not believe we are already at week 8! This year is going by fast.

This week we will be playing our tin whistle for Fine Arts again. I hope everyone has been practicing holding the whistle and covering the holes, as well as how to blow softly to make a pleasing sound. If you have any questions about this please ask.

Our presention for this week will be to make or do something in front of the class. Each student will be given 5 minutes to present. The following students will go this week:
Lillian
Blaze
Kaley
Annika
Madeleine (if enough time)

Week 9 is the same presentation with:
Sam
Makenzie
Presley
Cydney

Please practice this with your child, we hope to have each child in front of the class for as close to the 5 min as possible. Each child has been getting better and better each week!

We will also be taking our class picture again this week. Please be at CC as early as possible, I will start taking all pictures at 8:45, with the class pictures probably last.

Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Simone :)

Week 7

Sorry, I know this is late.   :(

Tomorrow, we will be starting on our "My Body," for science experiment time. There are some colors that are needed and it would be great if you could bring them in for class for the next 6 weeks.
They are:
silver
gold
blue
red
brick red
mango tango
yellow
purple
yellow green
timberwolf
red
orange
atomic tangerine
burnt orange
mahogany
pink
periwinkle or sky blue
Also, we are starting tomorrow with our tin whistles, we will be using them the next six weeks. Please make sure to bring them with you so that your child has them for each class. They are responsible for practicing during the week, so we can't store them at the church. This would be a great time for maybe giving your child some responsibility in having them remember to bring it to class.

The presentation this week is to share a funny story, your child may bring a book or props to go along with theirs. I do have the full presentation list on the left side of this blog as well if you are needing to know for an upcoming week.

I will also be taking pictures of anyone who has not had their picture taken since week 1. Next week we will be taking our class picture. Please come a few minutes early if possible to get this done.  I will also start collecting forms and money for anyone who wishes to purchase class pictures or individual package pictures. The form can be found at the following blog, http://reflectionsphotographynola.blogspot.com/, it is located on the right hand side of the screen.

If you have any questions, please email me @ psychmajor1@yahoo.com.

Thank you!
Simone :)

Week 3 and 4

We had another good week! The only setback would have been the smoke, glad nature is clearing that up.  Now we will be praying for no flooding from Lee. Ty has said that if Jefferson Parish closes the schools for Tuesday we will not meet. She will send an email out about it as well.

This weeks presentation is to memorize a bible verse to recite in class. It would be a good idea to maybe bring a picture to go with it or to be able to tell a little bit about the verse, possibly tell the story that goes along with it depending on what the verse is. Our students are supposed to speak for between 2-4 minutes and this week we will be working on speaking loudly so that everyone can hear.

If we do meet this week (due to the storm), I will still not be there.  Christina McCloud, will be substituting for me. She was a tutor herself last year, so I believe she will do a great job. If anyone has any questions please ask me, I will still be checking my email throughout the week.

Thank you again to the parents who have been helping so much in class, as well as the students who have been doing a good job with learning what is taught in class. Again, the work you do at home is a major part of this program, try to review with your student(s) as much as possible.

If anyone has any thoughts on things they would like to see on class or ideas you have, I am open to suggestions. Please be patient with me for a response and be understandable if your idea or suggestion is not applied. Some things will be out of my hands and others I may not be able to do personally.

Week 2

I know this is really late. Sorry. Last week went well again, thank you to my parents for helping during class and to my students who were very behaved.

Tomorrow, we are going to be talking about our family vacation. I will ask some questions, but it would be better if the students already knew a little about what they want to talk about.

See you in the morning!

Simone

Week 1

Thank you parents and students for making the first day so great! We had a really good first day, which makes me really excited about the rest of the year.

Week 2, we will be telling a bible story. Please have your child bring a bible picture book to show the class pictures from the story and tell it in their own words or they can act it out.

We will also be using the pebbles and jar this week, please do not hesitate to let me know if you feel a student should recieve a pebble. With teaching in front of the class, I do not always see some of the thoughtful things each student does.

On the side of this blog I have attached a link to the presentation list for each week. Please look under the Younger Students column.

Thanks for a great day again and if you have any questions please let me know.

Blessings,
Simone Gremillion
